Backend Engineer - Internationalisation

About the Role

We are looking for Backend Engineers to join our Internationalisation team and help drive user acquisition, engagement, and retention through data-driven development and scalable backend solutions. You will work closely with product managers, frontend engineers, and data analysts to implement and optimize backend services that support growth initiatives. Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize backend services and APIs to support growth initiatives such as A/B testing, personalization, and conversion rate optimization.
• Collaborate with frontend engineers and product managers to create seamless and efficient user experiences.
• Implement data pipelines and tracking mechanisms to measure the performance of growth experiments.
• Improve backend performance, scalability, and security to enhance user experience and business impact.
• Work with data analysts to ensure accurate tracking and reporting of key growth metrics.
• Stay up to date with best practices and industry trends in backend development and growth engineering.
• Rapidly prototype and iterate on experiments based on data insights and user feedback.

Required Experience & Skills

• Firmly grounded computer science and engineering fundamentals including concurrency, multithreading, data structures, solution design, architecture, and design patterns.
• Strong proficiency in RESTful APIs, GraphQL, and microservices architecture.
• Experience in backend development with expertise in Java.
• Experience with databases such as MySQL, or MongoDB.
• Experience with event-driven architectures and message queues.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms and serverless computing.
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
• Experience with A/B testing frameworks and data-driven experimentation.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to optimize backend performance and scalability.
• Experience working in cross-functional teams and collaborating with frontend engineers, product managers, and data analysts.
• Proficiency in English reading and writing.

Bonus skills

• Understanding of growth engineering principles and how backend infrastructure impacts user engagement.
• Familiarity with logging and monitoring tools (Datadog, Kibana, and Sentry)
• Experience with machine learning models and data-driven decision-making.
• Exposure to growth hacking methodologies and experimentation-driven development.
• English proficiency in verbal communication.
