What you’d be doing in this role

As Canva scales change continues to be part of our DNA. But we like to think that's all part of the fun. So this will give you the flavour of the type of things you'll be working on when you start, but this will likely evolve.

This role will lead operations for CC’s new Production Team coaching a team of Ops Managers, and co-leading the full Production team alongside our Production Design Lead.

You will be responsible for the operational structure that efficiently produces, and delivers, the content driven by the CC’s Creative Strategy & Direction teams. This includes production processes, CW and Creators planning/resource management, CW and Creators rate strategies and application, as well as hiring and contractor retention management to ensure we have a robust, diverse, happy Contractor pool.

  • Leading day-to-day operations of our Creative Production team, processes and outputs. Evolving and innovating how the team operates to continuously improve.
  • Partner with our CC Team Leads to ensure team-wide alignment and efficiency. This role has a broad remit across multiple teams and a key requirement is to ensure all CC teams are working in harmony and with consistent operational excellence.
  • Apply CC Group Level cycle planning requirements and processes to your team's needs and capabilities, alongside continual optimisation of these processes.
  • Oversight of cycle planning this includes resource and capacity planning, budget application and tracking, as well as the set-up and management of Production platforms (Monday.com, G-sheets etc.)
  • Responsible for the delivery of cycle plans, and serving as the key contact for amendments to cycle plans with new priorities and urgent tasks
  • Partner with Craft and Product Leads to build high-quality, reliable talent pools to deliver on all briefs.
  • Continually seek to optimise our Production Processes, set foundations for scale and work alongside CC Group Leads to vision, and deliver, the future of content at Canva
  • Coaching our production team members to elevate their craft skills, guide them through our most complex projects and help them achieve their individual growth goals.

 

What we're looking for

You have solid organisational and people skills with the ability to set priorities, problem solve, multi-task and work in a rapidly changing environment. You get excited about managing teams, setting up spreadsheets, and love building internal relationships. You have a keen sensitivity to creative production workload(s), resources and project deadlines with the ability to shift and balance priorities based on the overall volume of work. 

  • You are a fantastic communicator. Your communication skills help you work cross-functionally with other teams. You brainstorm concepts and facilitate workshops. You give and receive constructive feedback and can clearly articulate how creative processes can be improved, mentoring others to deliver their best work.
  • You are an operational guru. You are process driven, you love operationalising systems and workflows for scale, to help move the team from chaos to clarity. 
  • You are solutions orientated. You proactively search for and solve potential problems. You apply your advanced technical knowledge to enable innovation, achieve goals and break down blockers.
  • You’re comfortable with chaos. You can navigate forward without perfect precedents or direction, and map out a path to clarity and execution. You can lead, and rally, a team through new frontiers and change.

About the Group/Team

Canva would not exist without content. Our templates, photos, fonts, stock media and more play a critical and pivotal role in empowering our users to design anything and publish anywhere. Content has far reaching business impact and is a key driver of user acquisition, retention and revenue

The Content Creative (CC) team’s mission is to build the most valuable content library in the world to inspire our users to create their next design. We work collaboratively across the Content & Discovery group, and other groups to identify & implement opportunities to drive user engagement through content. This group will be focused on developing the world’s most inspiring and valuable library of photos, videos, animations, illustrations, graphics, fonts, and more. Working to ensure that our content is Truly Local, the Content Creative sub-group has a global remit to create and acquire the most relevant, high quality content from around the world.
